Executive Summary
- Founded in 2020, AFMAT is the dream of a Chairperson and founder who saw the plight of Marginalized groups in his community and decided to do something about it, in collaboration with friends.
- Armed with loving heart and a never ceasing determination to save Marginalised groups from poverty and starvation, AFMAT have fought tirelessly to make the dream a reality.
- AFMAT is dedicated to supporting Marginalized Groups in Tanzania Community by guiding and helping community leaders set up Development Committees to focus on the needs and entitlement of the poor and marginalized sections of the community.
- More than Community Empowerment, AFMAT will strive to eradicate poverty through promotion to health services, Agriculture, Academic and Vocational Training, and will provide to the Community a solid foundation of good health with regards to improved water, sanitation and hygiene solutions, while providing a focal point for community interaction and development.
- Construction of the facilities at AFMAT Head Quarters has been ongoing for activities that will impact the entire community for years to come.
- Two buildings have been erected, a borehole has been drilled for clean and safe drinking water, animal water drinking infrastructure and a modal farm/garden has been planted and a solar power system has been installed.
- AFMAT model farms will be set up at AFMAT Head Office at Mpunguzi Area, in order to examine, demonstrate and disseminate among poor/marginalized grape farmers in Dodoma, the principles of Sustainable Agriculture.
- Grape processing factory has been selected as a pilot project and as a steeping stone for AFMAT since it tends to benefit a wide range of grape growers living in Dodoma rural.
- The processing factory will help to uplift the livehood of grape growers in Dodoma and Tanzania in general, in terms of income generation, job creation, just to mention a few.
- AFMAT is also involved in grape cultivation that, creating an easy path towards the goals/objectives set by AFMAT which is Emphasizing Sustainability, Empowerment and Community Development.
- As part of five(5) years plan, for the financial year(2021/2022), AFMAT emphasis will be on Establishing a medium size Grape Processing Factory by which cost is estimated to be about TZS 600 Million.
